I m not a Blizzard fanboy of the first hour, even if I had a lot of fun with Rock & Roll Racing on the SNES. In fact, I remained faithful to the Nintendo and (later) Sony consoles almost all the 1990s. Touch points with Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, Diablo and Star craft there was only in the circle of friends. That changed only when I could spare my own PC for the high school and the classics not only picked up, but also the new shit like Diablo 2 or Warcraft 3 with buddies in the LAN.
Slowly I realized that Blizzard has to be an extraordinary studio. So many milestones of gaming history in so few years, at the same time zero flops or even medium-spreading games… The Californians developed a trust in this time, which I did not want to make a publisher and developer otherwise, and with World of Warcraft and Star craft 2 was still consolidated. It started with Diablo 3
But how life plays like this, the white vest does not stay white for a lifetime. Suddenly the popular developers met decisions that contradicted their own rules such as Gameplay First or where they had the feeling that they were not met in the sense of the players, but in the sense of their own wallet. The auction house made the auction house in Diablo 3, where you could go shopping with real money, and Blizzard deserved every transaction. Due to the enthusiasm the player, the feature had to be completely deleted.
So since it is not so easy to assist microtransactions in premium titles with a purchase price, developers changed their orientation: instead of new AAA games with milestone quality, the Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm and Overwatch. That s not exactly the fabric from which the fan dreams are. It did not help that Warlords of Drano was a shot in the oven. The disappointing new editions of Star craft followed and later Warcraft 3, the Naughty-expensive Collector s Edition for Battle for Zeroth, the infamous Immortal gate on the Blazon 2018, the Flashung-Pr- Disaster and many more small or greater events and decisions that made me and many other fans headaches.
The year 2021
Blizzard benefited at this time from the strong foundation that they had built up for years, and from positive signs such as the fantastic Wow (Buy Now €14.99): Legion or decision to bring WoW Classic. But how long can that be fine? Well, exactly this point we have exceeded this year. Left road thanks to the sexism candles, which has brought a lot of disturbing and charging behaviors to the light. Thanks to the reaction of the Activision Responsible following. And thanks to the fact that we have had to endure two moderately inspiring WOW extensions in a matter for the first time since 2005.
After Cataclysm came Mists of Mandarin, which has always been much better than it has made a pandar-hate, and after Won we had the extension with the perhaps best patch cycle with Legion. And now? Now we actually digest Battle for Zeroth and at the same time suffer from the Content Drought in Shadow lands. When is patch 9.2? Well, that will take you anyway. Patch 9.1.5 is still warm, but above all had balancing and comfort improvements in the luggage.
No more trust in Blizzard
Through all these things, Blizzard has played a lot of retrieves over the last decade. Promise were not held. The friendliness, openness and tolerance lived outward seems to have been as much value behind the scenes as a Twitter Post by Trump. And if you always say, and again that you can do it better, but then it does not make better, then any further excuse brings exactly nothing.
The result? Trust is gone. And so fundamentally that Blizzard is hardly added to something good. And the reaction of many players: pr-action! Other measures would be more important! Brings nothing anyway, because you will continue to ignore the good feedback! They ll just get any influencers!
Such a counterwind in actually good announcements actually know only the big evil like Electronic Arts. My hope is now that in the course of the sexual chestnut enough to be reinforced with Blizzard, to find fresh blood, creative ideas and lots of use back to the old starch.
